I’m running tiling business for 23 years so far and having most difficult time in my life at the moment.
I usually have 5 to 22 workers for my business most of the time through 23 years but I have no workers now as unbelievable. Doing tiling business as a subcontractor isn’t easy. Always have to chase money so I pay all workers who’s been working for my business and checking all the worker’s work already done and make sure there wouldn’t be any issues so I can claim. End of 2019 we were doing a project at St Vincent Hospital in City. I was having 8 workers at that time. I’m a Korean guy and was having all Korean workers all the time for better communication and we feel same culture and traditional so it is better for working together. We didn’t get payment for 8 weeks from company we worked for and finally I’ve lost all workers because I couldn’t pay them for that long time. I’ve paid them for 4 weeks of work but couldn’t handle any longer. And then covid-19 pandemic spread out all over the World so international border’s are closed. It made me hard to get Korean workers anymore. I’ve put on advertisement on Korean newspaper something for long time but didn’t get any single phone call yet.
I’ve tried an Aussie and a Malay guy while ago but didn’t work good due to I’ve already had many Korean workers and they didn’t enjoy working together. I’m working on the tools for now by myself without any helper at the moment and it slows me down to make productivity everyday.
I need at least one guy who can give me a hand to do better work to start build up my business again.
I’m a 1st class skilled tiler base learning civil engineering in university when I was young. I can teach my skill and style so anyone can be a good tiler shortly with guaranty. That’s what always happened whoever worked for me before. I need someone who can work and has a car also carry responsibility.
You should have an ABN so I don’t have to do all the paper works from the beginning but can be employed properly after everything is proven.
